A company called BackBlaze, a 2007 online backup software startup, has taken it upon themselves to test and publish the findings from hard drive testing every quarter since 2013. Below is a summary of their findings. Here you can find the entire repository of statistics which outline drive sizes, the amount of drives that were tested, total drive days, drive failures, and the calculated failure rate. All of these numbers come from reporting on the drives in BackBlaze’s data centers. For more information check out the original post by Andy Klein of BackBlaze.
