Founded in 1964, Compact Industries began as an instant coffee, cocoa and soup packer.  The firm’s primary product was called the In-Cup: a paper, lined cup filled with soluble coffee.  By adding hot water, these cups were an instant coffee delivery system for consumers.  Shortly thereafter, the In-Cup was modified for use with a new technology—coin operated vending machines.  In 1973, John F. Green III and three investors purchased Compact Industries and expanded the product line to include single serve instant coffee packets and foodservice bags. During this time, Compact began importing soluble coffee that was marketed in bulk and packaged form.  As business grew, the company expanded its capacity to accommodate contract-packaging services for powdered beverages and dry food products.  Sales exploded in the early 1990s as the firm packaged a new beverage mix, cappuccino.


Today, Compact Industries specializes in manufacturing powdered foodservice beverages (generic or customer label) and contract blending and packaging.  We can package a variety of dry, food-grade ingredients from sugar-based products and granules to very fine powders.

Our IT infrastructure at Fox Valley Farms over the years became quite archaic. Our accounting software, MAS90, was 8 years outdated and ran only on the unsupported Microsoft Windows XP. In order to upgrade our MAS90 software to what is now known as Sage100, we needed to upgrade to Windows 7 Pro. In addition, if we were going to upgrade the workstations, it was advised by Systech to upgrade our 5-year-old servers and the unsupported Microsoft Server 2003. So our predicament did not involve just one simple quick solution. Because of this, Systech redesigned our system from the ground up. They walked us through every step of the way to design a system that will last us years to come. Meanwhile, we took this opportunity to upgrade our email services to Microsoft 365 which Systech highly recommended. Today we are pleased to work on the latest HP server technology backed by Microsoft Server 2012. Our new HP workstations running Microsoft Windows 7 Pro have provided ample power and speed to manage all of our needs, including our upgraded Sage100 accounting system.
