AT&T recently announced that they will be deploying 5G to 21 major cities this year including Chicago and Minneapolis. These cities are the most recent to join AT&T’s previously announced 2019 launch cities: Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Nashville, Orlando, San Diego, San Francisco and San Jose.
5G is capable of providing speeds up to 20 times faster than existing peak 4G speeds. It also appears that AT&T’s goal of delivering 5G speeds nationwide on the sub-6Ghz spectrum by 2020 is on target.
According to Mark Lowenstein, managing director, Mobile Ecosystem.
“This promises to be an exciting year, as we learn about initial mmWave deployments, expand coverage to more cities and across additional bands of spectrum, and see more 5G devices.”
