According to an article published 5 days ago by AdvIntel, an IT security firm based out of New York, 3 of the major antivirus software vendors have been compromised by a group of high-profile, underground Russian hackers who,
“specialize in breaching highly secure protected networks to access private corporate and government information.”
The group, collectively known as FXMSP, claimed on April 24, 2019 that they gained access to the internal networks of three leading antivirus companies. The group was able to steal application source code from antivirus software, Artificial intelligence, and security plugins for all three companies.
Update 5/14/2019: The three companies have been revealed as Symantec, Trend Micro, and McAfee according to chat logs and Gizmodo
